Co-Development Opportunities, Partnerships and Prototype Development

The 5D Health Protection Group provides unrivalled support in the innovation and development stage of a products lifecycle. We are able to oversee the development of prototypes in many different fields, particularly in wound care. When prototypes have to be scaled up, we work with the partnering organisation or, due to our extensive links with many B2B manufacturing sites, are able then to progress a customer's prototype technology into full development.

We also support the development of technical files and design dossiers. 5D can help to support the delivery of a finished product to market. We specialise in delivering technologies and products to the medical device industry, particularly in wound care. We have been supporting the development of wound care devices for over 20 years. Our in-house R&D scientists have many years experience in the innovation and development of CE and 510k approved products. From the inception of a project it is our in-house expertise that adds significant value to a customers innovation and product development process. 5D Technologies and Patents

The 5D Health Protection Group Ltd have a number of granted patents and patents pending. The granted patents include our next generation antibiofilm and antimicrobial metal-EDTA compound/complex for combatting biofilms and/or treating medical devices related infections including acute and chronic wounds.

The 5D antibiofilm complexes comprises EDTA with the addition of different metal ions in conjunction with non-metal antimicrobials and surfactants. Metal ions, could include Ag, Al, Au, Ba, Bi, Tl, Ce, Co, Cu,Fe, Ga, Ir, Mo,Rh, Ru, Ti, and Zn ions. The metal-EDTA complex and non-metal antimicrobial combination may exhibit any one or more of anti-microbial, anti-biofilm and anti-inflammatory activities in use and may increase the susceptibility of a biofilm and the microorganisms within biofilms to attack by anti-microbial agents, helping to remove and sanitise the biofilm. Uses of the metal-EDTA and non-metal antimicrobial complex combination can be used as a medicament to sanitise and/or substantially remove a biofilm from a substrate.

In addition, we have other patents filed in the area of antibiofilm technologies that can be used in a wide range of industries including medical devices, wound dressings, dentistry, food processing to name but a few. Further patents we have filed include the use of biosensor and diagnostic patents to study changes within medical devices and patients.
